Ahrensburg, 6 August 2013 – Camera manufacturer Basler has expanded its sprint series of line scan cameras. In May, the existing Camera Link models with 39 kHz, 70 kHz and 140 kHz line scan rates were joined by monochrome and color cameras offering 50 kHz at 2k and 4k resolution. Basler's portfolio now offers customers an even broader range of devices covering an ever wider spectrum of applications.

The new models are specially developed for all applications that require the full benefits of outstanding image quality at moderate speeds, all at an attractive price. Basler is also offering special versions of the sprint (Enhanced Shading Correction) by request for optimal results in low-light situations.

New Firmware

All versions of the sprint recently started shipping with the new firmware, version 1.17. The changes include a powerful color enhancements for all color camera models. A 6-axis operator is used to achieve especially high levels of color fidelity. To ensure correct configuration in an extreme range of lighting situations, Basler recommends checking the handbook for proper gain, white balance and color values in standard illumination situations. The manual and other useful documents on configuring colors can be found in the Basler download area.

The sprint line scan cameras are based on a two-line CMOS sensor technology and are counted among the fasted line scan cameras on the market, with speeds of up to 140 kHz. The cameras with large 10 µm pixels demonstrate tremendous sensibility even in low-light applications and are given preference in applications where high speeds are needed.
