Karmiel, Israel | May 01 2013: Opgal Optronic Industries, a leading global provider of innovative infrared imaging solutions, has announced the availability of the next-generation EyeR-Core™ thermal video engine (camera core) platform. With this enhancement, Opgal becomes the only camera manufacturer to offer both ASi and VOx microbolometer cores with universal form, fit and function (FFF).

The military-standard EyeR-Core™ offers outstanding image performance and threat detection, together with the cost and reliability advantages of microbolometer technology. The engine features 500g at 0.5msec shock absorbing capabilities ‒ ideal for thermal weapon sights, low-power consumption for handheld applications, and a 640x480 17μ focal plane array. The device’s innovative field-proven shutterless operation enables the engine to work continuously for non-uniformity corrections (NUC) in real time. EyeR-Core™ has no moving mechanical components, which further increases the engine’s reliability and allows for a smaller footprint.

With an interchangeable FFF and an optimized SWaP ratio, the EyeR-Core™ is an extremely flexible platform ‒ suitable and customizable for a broad spectrum of defense, security and industrial applications.
