Andover, MA – July 1, 2020 – MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI) introduces its Spectra-Physics® SPFL 532-40, a new pulsed green fiber laser with >40 W output power and up to 180 mJ pulse energy in the green spectrum. The SPFL 532-40 features TimeShift™ programmable pulse capability and dynamic, on-the-fly adjustment of pulse repetition rates for optimal processing results. The SPFL 532-40 is ideal for demanding manufacturing applications in consumer electronics and clean energy.

“With exceptional performance, versatility and reliability, our new Spectra-Physics SPFL 532-40 laser delivers high quality and throughput processing results for 24/7 manufacturing environments,” says John Golub, site general manager for Spectra-Physics lasers. “The new laser further extends MKS market leadership in lasers for micromachining.”

The SPFL 532-40 laser’s TimeShift programmable pulse capability provides flexible burst mode operation with adjustable pulse widths, pulse separation and number of pulses in a burst.  The laser operates with adjustable repetition rates from single shot up to 2 MHz and delivers a high quality, near diffraction-limited output beam for excellent micromachining results. SPFL 532-40 is ideal for cutting, scribing and drilling of brittle materials, solar cells, semiconductors, PC boards, flat panel displays, lithium-ion batteries, ceramics and fine metal parts.

The new laser uses an air-cooled engine for flexibility, easy system integration and a water-cooled laser head for improved temperature and, hence, output power stability.  The SPFL 532-40 line is designed and tested to ensure long-life operation with low cost of operation and is proven in demanding 24/7 manufacturing applications. Lasers are manufactured in a six-sigma Lean factory and undergo 100% testing and burn-in prior to shipment.

The Spectra-Physics SPFL 532-40 laser will be featured at Laser World of Photonics China, National Exhibition & Convention Center, Shanghai, China, July 3-5, 2020.  Please visit MKS at booth #8.1B522 for a demonstration.  For more information, please see www.spectra-physics.com/spfl.
