LITTLE ROCK, AR, November, 2017 Power Technology Inc., laser experts in the photonics industry since 1969, today introduced a new line of high-energy, broadly-tunable lasers for the biosciences industries including photoacoustic imaging.  The new Titanium Sapphire laser line, the TiSon GSB is available in 200 mW and 400 mW average power configurations and offer user-tunable wavelengths from 700 nm to 900 nm with direct or fiber-coupled outputs.

Both configurations provide high pulse energy, short pulse duration, high pulse-to-pulse stability, excellent pointing stability, maintenance-free operation, cost-effectiveness, fully-automated wavelength tuning, and fast wavelength switching. They are air-cooled and provide an ultra-compact footprint without the need for a free-standing pump laser.

The TiSon GSB laser is offered in two configurations including the TiSon GSB 200 and TiSon GSB 400. The TiSon GSB 200 has a tunable wavelength range from 710 nm to 890 nm, with a pulsed output power of 200 mW. The Tison GSB 400 has a tunable wavelength range from 700 nm to 900 nm with a pulsed output power of 400 mW.

The TiSon is specifically engineered for photoacoustic imaging. Photoacoustic imaging encompasses an entire biomedical field focused on imaging of both functional and structural tissues. These include hemodynamics monitoring, breast cancer diagnosis, and brain lesion detection.

“Titanium Sapphire is a perfect medium for the photoacoustic imaging environment. With fast wavelength switching and no external pump laser, the TiSon is a great tool for the bio-scientist’s arsenal” Walter Burgess, VP of Engineering and Sales for Power Technology Inc., said.
