COGNEX IN-SIGHT 7000: THE ONLY VISION SYSTEM TO SUPPORT POWERLINK
May 22, 2012
Natick, MA, USA May 22, 2012 - Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) the world's leading supplier of machine vision
systems and industrial ID readers today announced that it has expanded the communication capabilities for real-time Ethernet
communication by adding POWERLINK support from B&R Automation to the In-Sight® 7000 machine vision product line.
The POWERLINK standard has been integrated into the Cognex Connect™ communications suite to deliver high speed deterministic
control that integrates directly with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) developed by automation industry leaders B&R
Automation based in Eggelsberg, Austria.
POWERLINK is one of the key emerging standards for real-time Ethernet communication for high speed industrial automation applications.
As a result, Cognex has made using POWERLINK in the In-Sight 7000 line of machine vision systems a strategic goal and is the only
machine vision company that supports the POWERLINK protocol.
“We recognize the growing importance of deterministic Ethernet and we see POWERLINK as a “must have” addition to the Cognex
Connect communications suite” said Bhaskar Banerjee, Business Unit Manager for Vision Systems. “We are very excited about the
new opportunities that POWERLINK opens up for the deployment of highly integrated vision system applications in advanced
automation architectures.”
The synchronization between Cognex In-Sight 7000 vision systems and B&R Automation POWERLINK systems will help deliver faster,
highly automated solutions to users on the production line. POWERLINK is available now for In-Sight 7000 vision systems.
