Rochester Precision Optics was pleased to host U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand as she announced that the first piece of legislation she introduced in the 113th Congress is a federal funding competition that encourages states and regional public-private partnerships to design and implement comprehensive strategies that spur growth for local manufacturing industries, particularly in the thriving fields of clean-tech and high-tech manufacturing, and that train workers with the skills that businesses need.

Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) was formed in 2005 when it acquired the manufacturing technology, intellectual property and assets from Kodak Optical Imaging Systems. Starting production in 2006 and building on its core technology of precision molded glass aspheres, RPO has grown from 27 employees to over 185 today.
