PITTSBURGH, Jan. 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The II-VI Infrared Division of II‐VI Incorporated (NASDAQ:IIVI), a world leader in laser optics, today introduced a new product line of ion beam sputtering (IBS) coated optics.

The II-VI IBS coated optics offer unmatched performance in low laser absorption, high laser damage threshold, durability and adhesion to meet the demanding requirements on optical coatings for increased power levels in the growing fiber laser market.

“Our new line of IBS coated optics enable our customers’ one micron lasers, including fiber lasers and diode lasers, to be utilized to their full potential,” said John Ryan, Vice President Sales, Laser Solutions Segment, II-VI Incorporated.  “With several decades of experience in laser optics, we provide our customers the optics required to expand into new industrial laser markets.”

The II-VI portfolio of IBS optical coatings, including antireflective, highly reflective, broadband, and dichroic coatings, can be applied to substrates from II-VI or those provided by customers.  A variety of substrate materials, with sizes exceeding 125 mm in diameter, can be coated including fused silica, multi-spectral zinc sulfide and silicon. Customized coatings as well as a suite of in-house metrology and analytical capabilities complete the IBS coated optics portfolio.

The new IBS coated optics product line complements II-VI’s existing portfolio of products for fiber lasers, which include variable radius mirrors, fused silica aspheres, debris windows, laser processing heads, and laser light cables.

II-VI Infrared will showcase the new IBS coated optics product line at SPIE Photonics West, Feb. 16-18, 2016, in San Francisco, CA, in Hall C, Booth # 2223.
