Opto Electronic Product Line Manager – SBIR/DOD – Southern LA (CA) area

This individual should have come from an Optical Product Line Management or Marketing background (preferred BS/MS in Science or Eng) and have exposure to SBIR in some capacity.
Our client is a well established, profitable systems integrator which is involved in a variety of opto-electronic products and technologies, mostly related to DOD projects.
This individual could be managing 20-40 such contracts simultaneously working closely with the scientists to determine what is needed for each research project. The role will require up to 50% travel, with a couple trips to the East coast per month.

Experience working in RFP’s and RFQ’s is necessary; this is fast paced role working with government employees/scientists at military bases (thus the travel). The scientific background will help this person understand the projects ~ we need someone who has presence and can command respect from PhD’s and other Technical Experts. Additionally, this person should be tactical in nature ~ able to set up meetings, track the project internally to the final onsite demo with the customer.

We may consider marketing experience in Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), and Program Research and Development Announcement (PRDA).

The role of Director, Government Relations (technical title) requires a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physical Sciences, or Optoelectronics. The successful candidate will work interactively with Technical Directors, General Managers, and Corporate Marketing. A significant amount of travel is required for this position for visits to military bases and government offices on a regular basis.
The selected individual will complement the Principal Investigator in understanding the military specifications and how effectively our client can address the government requirements within the agreed upon contracts. The position also requires creating and maintaining good relations with government personnel, SBIR managers, military commanders, and attending military shows and exhibits. US Citizenship required.
