At VISION Point Grey will show many popular existing FireWire, GigE Vision, and USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 products, as well as introduce—and demonstrate live—two exciting new camera lines: the cost-effective Blackfly™; and the high-performance Grasshopper®3. Drawing on today’s leading digital interface technologies—GigE Vision and USB3 Vision—and the latest in CCD and CMOS image sensors, these new camera families offer powerful, easy-touse, and cost-effective alternatives to existing analog, Camera Link, and dual GigE LAG solutions.

Get More for Less with Blackfly™
The all-new Blackfly camera line combines Power over Ethernet, industry-leading affordability, and a host of unique features into the world’s smallest GigE Vision camera. Like it’s cousin the Flea3, the Blackfly measures just 29 x 29 x 30 mm in size and offers uncompromising value. Every Blackfly model comes packed with functionality designed to maximize performance and reliability, including a 32 MByte frame buffer; LED status indicators; and an on-camera image processing pipeline that provides color interpolation, gamma, and lookup table functionality. The first available model uses a 1.3 MP global shutter CMOS sensor capable of running at 60 FPS, and is competitively priced at just $395 (single quantity).

Grasshopper®3 Combines USB3 and CCD
Proving once again Point Grey’s innovation leadership, the new Grasshopper3 camera line combines the benefits of CCD with the affordability and data throughput of USB 3.0. The Grasshopper3’s FPGA and frame buffer-based architecture provides optimal reliability, a rich set of features, and a full image processing pipeline. The first available model uses the new Sony ICX687 2.8 MP CCD and will be capable of outputting full resolution 24-bit images at 25 FPS. The ICX687 sensor supports high definition (HD) 1080p30 imaging and uses Sony’s EXview HAD CCD II™ technology—a further evolved version of the well-known EXview HAD CCD™ technology—to improve quantum efficiency, reduce smear, and increase sensitivity, including into the near infrared.
